Under the cruel rule of the hot desert air the formations of sand dunes are in constant motion and transformation.
Only the fragile geometrical lines that vanish in the perspective of the desert landscape intersect the uniformly shimmering expanses.
Planned and rational, in the north to south and east to west directions they resist the rules of movement in the desert.
The Mauritanians colloquially call these grey lines, asphalted roads, goudron – tar – they are
European tars that persistently and all the time bring and carry off something.
